IMTEC is an acronym for Industrial Measurement Technology Engineering Consultants.   "Group" represents our network of experienced industrial metrology engineers. IMTEC is a consulting, engineering and sales company, focusing on new and emerging measurement technologies. We are the dealer for SOKKIA industrial measuring products and New River Kinematics' SA Software.  We rent 3-D measuring systems.  We provide contract engineering services for manufacturing technology programs where measurement technology is to be integrated with process control.

Directly, or through our IMTEC associates, we provide measurement services and training utilizing multiple head theodolites, laser trackers, digital photogrammetry and the SOKKIA NET 1200/NETrology/SA measuring system.

Each IMTEC associate has over 10 (most have over 20) years experience in the industrial measurement industry.  IMTEC associates are entrepreneurs like our founder.  Most are small businessmen with expert knowledge of  industrial measurement, extensive hands-on field experience with various measurement systems, and are experts in one or more industrial measurement fields.

Our primary service area is North America.  We have customers in  the USA, Canada, Japan, Mexico and United Kingdom. IMTEC's customers are some of the largest in North American industry, such as LaFarge, Lockheed-Martin, Boeing, Owens-Illinois, General Electric, Northrop Grumman, Texas Instruments and  Raytheon.  Our academia clients include M.I.T., Cal-Tech, University of Michigan and Cornell University.

In 1991, Michael D. (Mike) Holmes, P.E., founded The IMTEC Group, Ltd. and serves as Vice President of the Corporation.  IMTEC was incorporated in the State of Missouri in March of 1992. Mike's background is in the structural and mechanical engineering disciplines; moveable bridges, truck bodies and off-road vehicles,  and off-shore winches and power trains for ocean going barges and dredges.  In 1981, after a successful engineering career, Mike joined the field service department of an instrument manufacturer as the manager of industrial measurement services.  He quickly became the Executive Vice President and General Manager of that company. With the growth of the PC industry in the mid 1980's, traditional measurement and alignment methods rapidly became cumbersome as software and photonic based measuring systems were introduced to industry.    As this "emerging technology" developed, Mike broke with the traditional measurement instrument company and founded The IMTEC Group, Ltd. to enter the "new technology" field.  The  "emerging technology" of the 1980's is the state-of-the-art  technology today. MIKES'  DIVERSE LARGE SCALE MEASUREMENT AND ALIGNMENT EXPERIENCE  INCLUDES EVERYTHING FROM SIMPLE MACHINE ALIGNMENTS TO POSITIONING FLIGHT HARDWARE ON THE LOCKHEED-MARTIN'S X-33 LIQUID-OXYGEN TANK. HE HAS TAUGHT PRECISION MEASUREMENT UTILIZING VARIOUS 3-D TECHNOLOGIES TO HUNDREDS OF NOVICES. WHY NOT PUT MIKE AND HIS TEAMS EXPERIENCE TO WORK SOLVING YOUR MEASUREMENT  PROBLEMS

Initially, IMTEC functioned as a sales company and measurement system developers.   Our first sale of any significance was for Sokkia measuring instruments supplied to Boeing, Seattle in 1992.  Also during 1992 we developed (and sold) the IMTEC Model 55 EDLS, Electronic Differential Leveling System to the Department of the Navy.

We became a manufacturer's representative for Chesapeake Lasers ( SMX Corporation, Faro), Cubic Precision and a dealer for Sokkia industrial measurement products.

In 1993, we realized a definite need to put our experience and knowledge to work by also providing contract measuring services utilizing 3-D measuring technologies and began consulting.

Today, we focus on sales of the NET 1200/New River SA 3-D measuring system, training, and providing contract measurement services and measurement training services utilizing Sokkia Total Stations and Laser Tracking Interferometers.
