In 1991, Michael D. (Mike) Holmes, P.E., founded The IMTEC Group, Ltd. and serves as Vice President of the Corporation. IMTEC was incorporated in the State of Missouri in March of 1992. Mike's background is in the structural and mechanical engineering disciplines; moveable bridges, truck bodies and off-road vehicles, and off-shore winches and power trains for ocean going barges and dredges. In 1981, after a successful engineering career, Mike joined the field service department of an instrument manufacturer as the manager of industrial measurement services. He quickly became the Executive Vice President and General Manager of that company. With the growth of the PC industry in the mid 1980's, traditional measurement and alignment methods rapidly became cumbersome as software and photonic based measuring systems were introduced to industry. As this "emerging technology" developed, Mike broke with the traditional measurement instrument company and founded The IMTEC Group, Ltd. to enter the "new technology" field. The "emerging technology" of the 1980's is the state-of-the-art technology today. Mike’s diverse large scale measurement and alignment experience includes everything from simple machine alignments to positioning flight hardware on the Lockheed Martin's X-33 liquid-oxygen tank. He has taught precision measurement utilizing various 3D technologies to hundreds of novices and helped found CMCS in 1984. IMTEC originally functioned as a sales company and measurement system developer. The first sale of significance was for Sokkia measuring instruments supplied to Boeing, Seattle in 1992. Also during 1992 IMTEC developed (and sold) the IMTEC Model 55 EDLS, Electronic Differential Leveling System to the Department of the Navy. IMTEC then became a manufacturer's representative for Chesapeake Lasers (SMX Corporation, Faro), Cubic Precision and a dealer for Sokkia industrial measurement products. In 1993, IMTEC realized a definite need to put their experience and knowledge to work by also providing contract-measuring services utilizing 3D measuring technologies and began consulting. Each IMTEC associate has over 10 years experience (most over 20) in the industrial measurement industry. IMTEC associates are entrepreneurs like its founder. Most are small businessmen with expert knowledge of industrial measurement, extensive hands-on field experience with various measurement systems, and are experts in one or more industrial measurement fields. Today, IMTEC focuses on sales of the NET 1200/New River SA 3-D measuring system, training, and providing contract measurement services and measurement training services utilizing Sokkia Total Stations and Laser Tracking Interferometers. |
